That Matthew Good Album is amazing musically and lyrically. I highly recommend it. On his website there is the story of how the album came to be. Its pretty vulnerable stuff that he shares and it makes the album that much more engrossing (at least to me).
Great stuff that didnt make the cut includes albums by Bjork, Radiohead, Queens of the Stone Age, Monarch, Blonde Redhead, Andrew Bird, Bright Eyes, Low, Maserati, Twilight Sad.... Tons of good stuff this year.
In gonna make 2 mix cds this year as year enders. The first will be a "Best songs of the year" disc. Ill try not to have more than one song from each artist on this disc, and obviously not all albums will be represented. The other disc will be an MP3 disc with 100 tracks, 3 each from the top 30. The other 10 tracks will be standout songs from discs that didnt make the list. Also, some of the "3 songs from an album" will actually be 2 songs from the album and a non album track like a B-side, Bonus track, or a song left off the album. This way if you dig something and snag the album you'll have something extra.
