Beauty Continued...

Recently I've been a bit overwhelmed by all the beauty in the world, and in my life. The color pink especially, while never standing out to me previously in life, now reminds me of all the things that make it great to be alive. These pink flowers grow on Terrapin Point, my little place of sanity close to home. Im pretty blessed to have such an amazing spot less than 10 mins from my apartment.

I never ever get sick of this view...

It was great today. The sun was going down, the wind was fierce, and the mist just pelted you over and over. I loved it. It was just what i was looking for today.

No Paranoid Androids Here

I got to see Radiohead for my first time on Friday night. They were excellent, even if the set list was a little.... mellow. I mean, there was no "Paranoid Android", "My Iron Lung", "National Anthem", "Just", or "2+2=5". They did play a killer version of "Planet Telex" however. That was pretty sweet. Dont get me wrong, the show was excellent, and they are crazy tight musically, i just would have liked to see a little more LOUD stuff. Actually "Bodysnatchers" from In Rainbows was pretty good too. Here is the setlist:

1. 15 Step
2. Reckoner
3. Optimistic
4. There There
5. Morning Bell
6. All I Need
7. Pyramid Song
8. Weird Fishes/Arpeggi
9. The Gloaming
10. Wolf at the Door
11. Faust Arp
12. No Surprises
13. Jigsaw Falling Into Place
14. Idioteque
15. Climbing Up The Walls
16. Nude
17. Bodysnatchers

(1st Encore)

18. Like Spinning Plates
19. Videotape
20. Airbag
21. Talk Show Host
22. Street Spirit (fade out)

(2nd Encore)

23. House of Cards
24. Planet Telex
25. Everything In Its Right Place

This is setting right before the show begins. I really like the venue, as far as outdoor amphitheatres go. Nice and angled so the lawn seats have a good view.

I discovered that my camera has no zoom. This is my *best* shot of the show. All my show pics look just like this, except i have blue ones, purple ones, and red ones. It looked pretty cool in person, i promise. I know this picture just kinda looks like im watching a rave at the Parthenon from a distance. It didnt look like that in person. The picture at the very top is very close to the poster i purchased at the show. I look forward to having it permanently affixed to some wood and hanging it in my bedroom. My bedroom is a little lacking in the area of decoration.

Naked as a Window (J. Ritter)

How hard for the covers to be pulled from their slumbers,
but a ghost never gives up its sheet.
Tell me, is it the same for the rattling chains or whatever you wear when you sleep?
You remember the time that I told you to take off your clothes?
You were naked as a window.
But I'll take all that nothing over nothing at all.
I'm just a hallway for ceilings and walls, babe
and emptiness all the way through.
You know you're asking too much to be held and not touched,
but somehow that's just what you do.
You remember the time that I told you to take off your clothes?
You were naked as a window
But I'll take all that nothing over nothing at all.

Lost In Translation

I watched Lost In Translation again, last night the first half, and the end this morning. As the movie that i frequently refer to as my favorite film of all time, i realised it had been awhile since i saw it. I was amazed at how many things i had forgotten about the movie. Small moments mostly, which isnt unusual since there arent really any big moments in the film, its all small moments connected to one another.

I also forgot how funny the movie is, and i know why. I always warn people before they see it for the first time that it *isnt* funny. I tell them this since the trailers all used to make it look like a comedy, and then they see Bill Murray and they are expecting "Meatballs" or something. In reality, the movie is very funny, just in subtle ways, and it certainly isnt the focus.

I had also forgotten about this deleted scene with Charlotte and some social robots. I always thought it was another of movie's little magical moments. I wonder why Sophia Coppola cut this moment out?

Find the beauty where you can

On Sunday i finally went to a place that ive been wanting to go to for awhile. There is supposedly a park in Toronto that "would display the ecological variety of the entire province" in one city block. Well it's there, and there are certainly some pine trees there that didnt seem normal for downtown toronto, but aside from that, id like to think that is a bit more of an ecological experience to be had if you travelled the whole of Ontario. These little red flowers were kind of pretty though. This was it for color though. Everything else was green. I forgot to take a picture of the giant granite rock that is the park's finale.

My meal was certainly asthetically pleasing however. This was "Tango Mango Chicken and Tiger Shrimp". It was pretty tasty, but the Red Thai Curry across the table from me was a bit tastier. I had forgotten that little coconut kick that good curry has to it. Now i need to go to a Thai place. I did like the atmosphere of the place, although had i known there was an upstairs i may have asked for a table there, as it was a little more quiet. The downstairs was better suited for people watching, but i only had one person i felt the need to look at that day.

Champagne Eyes

My lips were like a rusty hinge
creaking and squeaking in the cold night air
letting the neighbors know the gate not been opened since autumn.
She was oil; sweetly scented, reminding me of why lips smile in the first place,
rewarding this wayward traveler for entering that night with the smallest step of faith.
I waited for that moment, out of the blue to summon my courage.
It came at a gentle touch, her hand at my back to break me from my absent thoughts.
I wonder if she knew she was telling me yes?
She reminded me that where there is smoke there is indeed fire;
though her soot, and inky blackness, were nowhere to be found.
A spark of moment, as brief as bright, that somehow held on to light and guide me back home.
