Sufjan Goodness

Sufjan was amazing in concert. You wouldnt think a state themed musical cheerleading show would be my thing, but it was totally my thing. Wish i could have seen more than one show. I have his Seven Swans disc coming in the mail and i am eagerly awaiting it.

Trip was fun too. Saw two movies while i was in the mitten, Exorcism of Emily Rose, and 40 year old virgin. Both were good, although not shockingly, in very different ways.

Next weekend is U2! Havent seen them since Continental Airlines Arena in NJ in Oct 2001. Been too long....

Motown Mix Insanity

In a few hours im taking off for Detroit. This will be my first time visiting this city, which is odd as it's only 4-5 hours away. Once i get to Detroit this weekend, and then Boston eventually, i think i will have seen all the major NE US cities. I'm going to Detroit to see Sufjan Stevens for my first time. Ill make sure to report back what the show was like.

It's not odd for me to make a mix cd before my trip, but for this trip i had made no less than *4* separate mix cds to listen to. I know. I have a problem. Anyways i find it interesting that while im always interested in making a coherent, well constructed mix of songs, it's always powered by what im listening to now, or what im in the mood for today.

Seriously Sweet Birthday

So im old as dirt. I can accept that. It's the nice store bought dirt, full of nutrients. Im doing fine.

Had a great birthday! Had my final interview and got my new job. All my friends threw me a surprise B-day bash. Found a new cd store with a quality $1 cd bin (gotta love the cheap cds). And my best friends got my a giant wood picture of U2 to go on the wall of my apartment.

Not a bad day. Have a nice double date set for the weekend, and maybe some golfing. Next weekend is Sufjan, the following is U2. Life is very very good =)
