The Adventure Continues!

So yeah. I dont have much to add to this. My journey to become a superhero is well on it's way. Tony has morphed into a boy wonder. My shoe still needs to be fixed. Notice the Batmobile Vespa...

We actually do work sometimes

This is the lastest masterpiece in progress at work. Apparently my super power has already changed. In the final picture ill supposedly shoot music notes from my hand. Tony, on the other hand, will breathe fire that says "That was she said" in the middle. Ill post the final when i have it...

Wind Rushing Through My Hair

Tell your co-worker one time that you used to have a powder blue mo-ped with a big white spaceballs-esque helmet, and next thing you know he draws this. I take my orders from Hello Kitty, just like the Chinese Emperor.

Okkervil Live

Got to see Okkervil River play live last thursday night, which if you have been watching the news, you'll know is the night that Buffalo got slammed with a freaky out of season snow storm. We made it to the show safely, though not without some interesting moments. I think my favorite was going up one fo the grand island bridges, while a semi truck started to slowly slide down the bridge toward us. Yee-haw.

It was well worth it as the show was excellent. Anyone who has never heard Okkervil owes it to themselves to check out a bit. Okkervilriver.com gives you a track or two from every release to download, and is a great free way to check them out.

I also found out my buddy is pretty good in a pinch. His slush removal and tree removal skills were second to none.

Surreal at times, but worth every minute

A few weeks ago i recieved an invite for a surprise birthday party for an ex, from her husband, who i had never met. As you can imagine, it was a little unexpected. As you can probably also imagine, i was unclear how to proceed.

Since i love awkward social situations, i was leaning towards going from the very beginning. That's mostly a joke (true as it may be), as the main enticement for going was that this was an ex that i was on very good terms with, and who's friends and family are well worth a trip to NYC for. I had not seen her in 4 years, and had not seen the friends and family in about 6.

Im sure it seems like i run a pretty crappy blog (i do) for not mentioning this sooner, but the old lady (soon she'll be as old as me, and that's old ) who was being celebrated at said party is a blog reader of mine (i think i have 3. i rule).

I was up in the air about going until the morning of the party when i said "what the hell" and packed up some stuff and left my apartment for a solo drive from Buffalo to NYC.

In hindsight, i'm now realizing that i was only away for 28 1/2 hours. I left 9am on sat, and was back ready to watch football at 12:30 Pm this afternoon. That's insane! And of course, fun. I don't do enough things in life by the seat of my pants.

There is not enough space in this blog to share all my feelings and interactions that occured over these 28 1/2 hours, but trust me it was a good time. Seeing my ex's dad, meeting her husband, seeing all the friends who im sure thought i was odd back in the day and maybe even more odd for being at this occasion now, remembering why i like the NYC area so much...

I hope the people who were there know how glad i was to be there. Patrick at a party can be a tough read i imagine. Surely i must look out of place and like im not having a good time, but it's just how i am. I love watching the party from the pariphary and interjecting when the time is right. I had a great time.

My advice for anyone reading this out there is this. If there are people you have come across in your life that make you smile, make you laugh, and remind you why life is worth living, then do what it takes to not leave them behind for long. It doesnt matter what happened between you, what needs to be forgiven, what needs to be forgotten, or what conventional norm you need to fly in the face of, be near these people when you can, and enjoy every minute of it.

Song of Our So Called Friend (W. Sheff)

**I couldnt get this song out of my mind last night, and into my drive this morning so i thought i'd share. Usually i know why im posting a song here, even if i dont post the reason, but this one is eluding my understanding at the moment. Since it's a terrific lyric however, i'll live with it.**

Remember when our so-called friend
would not call out to you
while tumbling loosely out a hole punched through your home?
it’s pretty clear, though you could hear, you truly finally knew,
in time, he’d tell his tale the way he’d like it told.
Now he isn’t on the phone, and his story might as well be so.
Well, loving is as loving does, and I’d say we should know, because we both have loved, have lost, and are alone.
Your face’s falling tears, to me they’re lovely and they’re dear, though you don’t love me and it’s clear that I will never see you in my arms.
There’s no room in your heart for even this finely-sharpened dart;
although I had started to think there might be hope, it isn’t so.
So wake up, make up some new song again around the same tune.
The water cools, the leaves they fall, the sun it bends, the summer ends;
our so-called friend doesn’t need you.
So proceed out the door and down the street.
December’s lying near, but in the oven’s heat this house is now a home.
Sixty days of trips and stays you took to tell me, dear, that you cannot love me because you secretly still love a stone.
Although I put my lips to your face, trying to push his kiss out of its place, although my heart started to race, now it has slowed,
I’ll let it go.

Who Needs Sleep?

It sure is hard time finding time to sleep now that i have a pc. Does everyone go through this with thier first pc? Aside from importing music, im not even sure what ive been doing. Sure, there have been a few long messenger chats, and some games of euchre, but im really not sure where all the time went.

As much as i had resisted it, i finally downloaded itunes before my previous version of my new pc imploded (a story for another time i suppose). Anyways, itunes is very nice. Im still not sure it can do all the things i want my music program to do, but i also feel as if i have barely scratched the surface of what it can do.

It did however know the name and all the tracks of Kat Jones "Demos For Friends Vol 1", a cd that im guessing has less than 100 copies in existance. Impressive.

But i should sleep, One more day of work to go, and possibly and very very busy weekend on the horizon.

This might get interesting.....Maybe

So for the first time in my life, i own a pc. Here i am in my own home writing a post. Crazy. I guess this means i can now share stuff when its on my mind, instead of sharing something when i had a pc available to me, which is what i had done up to now.

All this to say.... There's more to come. Stay tuned.
